Isti-mewa wishes to foster Malaysia’s rich traditional cultures in everyday modern life, through handmade crafts that are adapted into contemporary fashion pieces – using traditional fabrics such as Batik. Isti-mewa; which means special in Malay, represents the uniqueness of every piece that is being created. Every piece is crafted with a purpose that resonates individual connection with the owners, as we are all – one of a kind, unique and special in our very own way.
Started off by producing small scaled production as gifts to friends and families, we then receive remarkable responses that turned into demands from new batik and traditional fabrics lovers among our peers. In August 2017, we officially kick-started our business full time with the birth of Isti-mewa – and the rest is history. Today, Isti-mewa is running at a remarkable rate, with two physical stores in Bangsar, Isti-mewa is also available in more than 10 five stars hotels and resorts across South East Asia and departmental stores, besides actively participating in local and international arts and craft events..
Isti-mewa aims to promote local Malaysian fine craftsmanship to the world. This is why our products are known amongst travelers and tourists looking for exclusive handmade items that represent Malaysian craftsmanship at its best. While promoting our craftsmanship, we also enhance on the beauty of Malaysian Batik fabrics that we used to create our final products.
